Biography of Brenda Song
Brenda Song is an American actress, model, TV host, and singer who began her journey in show business as a child model. She gained recognition in the late 90s with numerous TV roles and commercials. In 2000, she received the "Young Artist Award" for her role in the film "The Ultimate Christmas Present". Afterward, she continued her career in youth-oriented movies such as "Like Mike" (2002) and "College Road Trip" (2008).
Early Life
Brenda Song was born on March 27, 1988, in Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento, California. She comes from a Thai immigrant family, and their original surname was "Siong," which was later changed to the more Americanized version, "Song." Her father is a school teacher, and her mother is a homemaker. Brenda has two younger brothers named Timmy and Nathan.
At the age of six, Brenda and her mother moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, as she had already been modeling. Initially, she wanted to learn ballet, and her younger brother wanted to join a taekwondo class. Their parents enrolled both Brenda and her brother in taekwondo. Although Brenda initially complained and cried, she eventually earned a black belt in this martial art.
Education and Career
Brenda received homeschooling and obtained her high school diploma at the age of 16. She later attended college and pursued a psychology degree through distance learning at the University of Berkeley. Throughout her education, she continued to act in minor roles in films and on television, as well as work as a model.
Brenda's breakthrough in the Disney industry came with her roles in the movies "Get a Clue" (2002) and "Stuck in the Suburbs" (2004). She also gained a recurring role as Tia in the series "Phil of the Future" from 2004 to 2005. In 2005, Brenda landed a lead role in the series "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" as Paris, a role she was cast in without auditioning. This was a pleasant surprise for her.
While Brenda has appeared in numerous Disney movies, such as "Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior," she has also lent her voice to characters in animated films. In 2004, she starred in Jesse McCartney's music video for the song "Good Life" and also appeared in Anneliese van der Pol's music videos for "Over It" and "More than Me." She has also contributed her vocals to several soundtracks of Disney films she appeared in. Recently, Jan Scott wrote several songs specifically for Brenda, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records.
